FAQ's about The Commons

What exactly is The Commons?

Instead of trying to figure everything out alone, members have access to:

• weekly office hours for real questions

• conversations with other entrepreneurs building their businesses

• ongoing guidance as their websites evolve

It’s a place to ask questions, solve problems, and make steady progress with support.

Who is The Commons for?

The Commons is designed for entrepreneurs who are building or improving their online presence and want thoughtful guidance along the way.

Many members are:

• starting a new business or project

• or THINKING about starting one

• rebuilding a confusing website

• learning how online tools actually work

• growing a business and needing better systems

If you want a calmer, more practical way to build your website and business online, you’ll likely feel at home here.

What happens during office hours?

Office hours are live sessions where members can bring real questions about their websites and online businesses.

Common topics include:

• organizing website pages and navigation

• choosing tools and platforms

• improving messaging and customer journeys

• connecting website systems like email or booking tools

• troubleshooting technical issues

Sometimes members ask a quick question. Other times we walk through a larger challenge together.

Do I need to be building a website right now to join?

No.

Some members join while actively building their websites, while others join earlier to learn how the ecosystem works before making big decisions.

The Commons is designed to support entrepreneurs at different stages of your journey.

I feel overwhelmed by technology. Is this the right place for me?

Yes. In fact, many members join The Commons for exactly that reason.

Building a website and running an online business can feel overwhelming because there are so many tools, platforms, and conflicting pieces of advice out there.

The Commons exists to slow things down and make the whole process more understandable.

Instead of trying to sort everything out alone, you’ll have a place where you can ask real questions, learn how the pieces of your website ecosystem fit together, and get practical guidance from people who have been through the process before.

You don’t need to already understand all the technology. That’s what The Commons is here to help with.

Can I cancel my membership anytime?

Yes.

The Commons membership is month-to-month. You can cancel whenever you like, and your access will remain active through the end of your billing period.

We also answer emails promptly if you need help.

Is The Commons a course?

No. While we currently host The Commons on the WMC Course Portal, this is NOT a Course.

Courses teach a specific topic from start to finish.

The Commons is an ongoing learning and support environment where you can ask questions, explore on-demand resources, and get help as your website and business evolve.

Many members use it alongside the Web Makers Circle courses.

What kind of questions can I ask in The Commons?

Members ask questions about a wide range of topics related to building and running an online business, including:

• website structure and strategy

• domain names and hosting

• automation tools and integrations

• email lists and lead capture

• improving messaging and offers

If it touches your website or online business ecosystem, it’s fair game.

How much time do I need to participate?

There’s no minimum commitment.

Some members attend office hours regularly, while others drop in when they need help or explore the knowledge base on their own schedule.

You can participate as much or as little as you like.

What makes The Commons different from other online communities?

Many online communities focus on motivation, networking, or general business advice.

The Commons focuses specifically on the real mechanics of building and running a website and online business ecosystem.

The goal here isn’t hype or hustle. It’s thoughtful progress and practical guidance.

Helping purpose driven entrepreneurs build sane, sustainable businesses online.
